I discovered this cocktail after the advice of junglehaus.cocktails, who has introduced me recently to gin based tiki drinks. Before digging into this ones, I preferred to start with something simpler. This cocktail might be a tiki-ish twist on a gin sour, replacing simple syrup with orgeat.

But I don’t like to buy syrups, so I’ve made my own homemade orgeat: almond milk, caster sugar, orange blossom water, rose water, and to give extra nut flavor, toasted peanuts and cashew nuts.

The other ingredients in the cocktail are gin, Angostura bitters and freshly squeezed lemon. This time I’ve use Botanic gin because it includes almonds between its botanicals.

Easy, surprising and delicious.

Recipe:

Ingredients:
  • Gin: 2 oz (60 ml).
  • Orgeat: 0.75 oz (22.5 ml).
  • Lemon Juice: 0.75 oz (22.5 ml).
  • Angostura bitters: 2 dashes.
  • Garnish: lemon zest.
Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
  2. Strain into a coupette.
  3. Express the oils from the lemon zest and us it as garnish.
